Read This When You've Been Sitting in Bed Watching Netflix All Day

June 25, 2018

So, you've been sitting in bed watching Netflix all day.
Or maybe you've been watching an endless number of youtube videos.
Or you've been sitting for hours on your phone scrolling aimlessly through Instagram.

No matter what platform you may be so willingly granting your time and undivided attention to,

and ask yourself...

Fun Sophistication: Gingham Shorts & Navy Blouse

June 20, 2018

If you are a fellow shopper and lover of fashion, I have no doubt that you've noticed the major increase in popularity in gingham this past year or so. Whereas gingham was previously sold somewhat strictly in stores such as J Crew and Vineyard Vines, gingham dresses, tops, skirts, and shorts can now be found in shops including Urban Outfitters and Zara. I have always been fond of gingham, yet I had never purchased a single piece with this pattern. I recently picked up these adorable gingham shorts from Zara, and I absolutely love their peplum bottoms and loose, comfy fit.

I chose to pair these shorts with this elegant navy blouse (which I borrowed from my mom) to create a fun, sophisticated look perfect for almost any occasion.

A Book Review: Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen

June 17, 2018

Though I only just posted a book review about a week ago, I couldn't help but post yet another one to share with you all the magnificent book I just recently finished, Water for Elephants. This novel was written by the same author of the novel I appraised in my latest book review, entitled Ape House, and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to have a go at Water for Elephants.

I can undoubtedly say that Water for Elephants will go down as one of my favorite reads of all time. This was one of those rare reads that had me glued to each page and caused me to lose track of all time when I delved into its glorious story.

Fostering 101: My Experience & How It Helps

Those who know me personally know that I am an animal lover. While I did share on my blog the petition I recently created to make licenses required for dog breeders in South Carolina, I realized that I have not used my platform much to help spread awareness about animal cruelty and mistreatment, an issue I care deeply about. I wanted to share my experience fostering dogs and shed light on the powerful impact it makes not only in the lives of the dogs you temporarily take care of, but for hundreds of other homeless animals.

Why is fostering important? How does it help?

Many rescue organizations receive dozens of calls and emails a day from shelters and people begging them to save dogs in imminent danger of being euthanized. These rescue organizations, many of which do not have a shelter of their own, rely on foster parents to take in these dogs that need saving from being put down. Taking in these dogs not only are saves them from being killed by shelters, but also creates room for more dogs at the shelter and therefore reduces the number of other dogs at risk of being put down due to lack of space.

A Book Review: Ape House, by Sara Gruen

June 10, 2018

Today I am sharing my thoughts and opinions on my latest read: Ape House, by Sara Gruen. If you read my first book review where I expressed my thoughts on Elizabeth Gilbert's novel Big Magic, you would known that I am not one for summaries when writing these sorts of reviews. While I greatly value summaries, I believe that the text on the backs of the books will provide a better synopsis than I ever could deliver via blog post, so instead I stick solely to sharing my personal views on my recent reads.

Dear Summer 2018,

It is the night before the first day of your sunny break,
and I am beyond excited for all you have to bring:

Summer Bucket List Ideas 2018

June 2, 2018

It is officially June which means summer is just around the corner, or maybe for some of you, is already here. For the past several years I have created a giant poster board filled with ideas for fun summer activities as well as goals I hope to accomplish. Personally, I am not someone who enjoys lounging around all summer long and sleeping in until 11:00 in the morning. Of course I do have those lazy days where I just want to stay at home curled up in bed watching Harry Potter, but for the most part I like to stay pretty active throughout my summer vacation.

As someone who has scrolled aimlessly through the depths of Pinterest in attempts to discover new bucket list ideas to fill my massive poster board, I thought it might be helpful to create a blog post full of the ideas I have gathered and included in my own summer bucket list.
