Evora, Portugal

January 23, 2020 Evora, Portugal

Evora is truly a hidden gem of Portugal. This small city is packed with unique historic sites, from the fascinating Chapel of Bones and other old churches to the Roman Forum. Greenery is abundant in Evora, as bushels of flowers hang lazily from the white walls of the buildings lining the narrow streets and gardens are blooming with trees. I have never before seen a sky so blue as in the city of Evora. The sky was completely cloudless during our visit and the sun was always shining.

As a result, however, the city was very, very hot and humid. Having just stayed in the town of Vila Nova de Milfontes which was situated on the water, we were accustomed to more moderate temperatures. Though I love the heat, at times my family found the blazing sun to be almost unbearable. The temperatures were fine during the early morning and around dusk, but in the mid afternoon we found ourselves seeking shelter inside to escape the brutal heat.

Due to an error in calculating the time we were supposed to have stayed at our Airbnb in southern Portugal, we were forced to make reservations at a hotel the day of. Unfortunately this meant that several hotels were already booked. We ended up staying at Solar de Monfalim, a quaint and modest hotel that was very reasonably priced. Though the rooms were small, the hotel suited our needs perfectly, as we were only visiting for a couple of days before heading north to Porto.

Beaches of Alentejo, Portugal

January 12, 2020 Alentejo, Portugal

During our stay in the town of Vila Nova de Milfontes, we took a couple day trips further south to visit the stunning beaches of the Alentejo region of Portugal. The sublime beauty of the sea and the sandy beaches nestled in corners of the rocky cliffs made our journey in the Alentejo region unforgettable.

My Blog: Reflecting on 2019 & Goals for 2020

2019 Goals & Reflections

1. Upload 100 blog posts

This is my 118th blog post.

2. Continue uploading the kinds of posts that make me happy

I am happy that I can say I feel that I have stuck with this goal of mine to continue posting the type of content that brings me joy and I am genuinely passionate about.

3. Promote my blog more

This goal is a little bit more difficult to measure. While I feel that in some areas of my life I was a little better at promoting my blog more, I believe I could have done much more. That is why I chose to continue to have this as a goal of mine (though I expanded a little bit upon it) in 2020.

2020 Goals

  1. Be more consistent during the academic year by scheduling posts.
